Runnymede Colonists - ca. 1880’s

The Runnymede colonists documented their time in Kansas with a weekly column in the Harper paper and photographs, such as this photo.

Although the pictures were taken in the late 1880’s, well past the days of the frontier west, the settlers sported guns and knives in many photos. Their outfits were a curious mixture of wild west with British upper crust. — courtesy of Kansas State Historical Society (KSHS) & Jim Richey
