Improved Breeders’ Association Dinner Great Success - [taken from Renfrew’s Record, dated Friday, January 23, 1920, Alva, Woods Co., Oklahoma, frontpage article] — It required more than a few loaves and fishes to serve the multitude that thronged the streets of Alva Saturday in response to invitation of the

    Woods County Breeders’ Association

, whose members were hosts at a barbecue dinner. Two heeves had been prepared, and these, with 200 pounds of weinies, numberless buns and large quantities of coffee were served at long tables that had been placed in the court house square. The committee in chage was kept busy until long past one o’clock handing out the edibles tot he hungry crowd.

Improved stock breeding and show pavilion were the topics of conversation and public speaking. J. A. Patterson, county agent of Alfalfa county, was present and addressed the crowd, giving some valuable points on the above topics. Members of the association made talks, explaining the object of the organization and the manner in which they expected to further the interests of stock breeding in the county. A great deal of enthusiasm was shown and a pronounced sentiment created in favor of the community building.

Altogether the promoters of the occasion feel that it was a very profitable gathering from many view points.
