Castle On The Hill
1937 The Ranger Annual
Northwestern State Teachers' College 1937 - YWCA We, as members of a world-wide fellowship of the Young Women's Christian Association, declare our purpose to be: To build a fellowship of women and girls devoted to the task of realizing in our common life those ideals of personal and social living to which we are committed by our faith as Christians. In this endeavor we seek to understand Jesus, to share His love for all people, and to grow in the knowledge and love of God. As members of the Young Women's Christian Association of Northwestern, we have in the past. Sponsored several "folk parties" for all college students. Acted as guides to the Freshmen on enrollment day. Sent a delegation of girls to Camp Ione at Oklahoma City for the past two years. presented a large framed picture tot he College. The YWCA quartet has appeared in numerous programs, and visited those in the hospital. Other social activities that have included all girls of teh campus are: Teas, slumber parties, and seasonal ties. The YWCA group sent their president, Eleanor Amen, to the STudent Volunteer Convention in Indianaolis, Indiana, where she was among a group of five thousand people and met students from more than fifteen countries, all of whom were interested in the Christian fellowship of the YWCA and YMCA around the world. The theme at the convention, which is the theme of Christian Associations everywher is that: "We are not first of all Chinese, Japanese, or English, but we are first of all Citizens of a World Community working together for the benefit of all!" We hope in the future to make the YWCA ib iyr campus a common meeting ground where all the girls of the college can meet together and work for a common good. We want to study the problems of all girls in general, and learn to adjust ourselves to every type. We, the YW girls of Northwestern, pledge ourselves to a greater service for our college and for humanity. The Cabinet members for the school year 1936-37 are: President, Eleanor Amen; Vice-president, Ella Bruner; Secretary, Lavina Mitchell; Treasurer, Frances Brown; Program Chairman, Doris Baker; Devotional chairman, D;Esta Wyman; Music Chairman, Mona Looney; Social chairman, Georgia Faye Andrews; Pianist, Honore Smith; Reprter, Blanche Holmden.
